What is the molecular formula of gold?

This is not really a meaningful question. Molecular formulae apply to substances which have simple molecular structures. Gold is a metallic structure and does not form molecules as an element.
The nearest you could use is the formula unit. For gold this would just be be the element symbol, Au. That is what you would write if you wanted to represent gold in any balanced chemical equation.
