How do you find the solution of the system of equations x+3y=12 and x-3y= -6?

Solving by elimination and substitution:

x+3y = 12
x-3y = -6

on adding the two equations 3y gets cancelled
x + cancel(3y) = 12
x - cancel(3y) = -6

2x = 6
x = 6/2 = 3

substituting this value of x in equation 1:

x + 3y = 12
3+ 3y = 12
3y = 12 - 3
3y = 9
y = 3

the solution for the system of equations are :
