If both are thrown from the same height and AT THE SAME TIME, the one that started faster will reach the floor faster just because it started faster.
When the one that started with v=0 reaches th speed of 10m/s the other one is already going faster than 10 because of acceleration, the first object will always be slowlier than the second object so will never be able to advance the second one and so the second one will arrive first .
This exercise would be really different if the second one was thrown for example 5seconds later, int his case you would need to use the 1D equaions of movement for knowing which one will get to the floor first, the question is, the second will be able to advance the first one before the first one reaches the floor?
