I think you mean 'attributes'. They are: magnification, resolution and contrast.

In brief:

Magnification: The power to enlarge the image of the specimen

Resolution: The shortest distance between two points that the microscope can define as clearly being separate points

Contrast: Cells are transparent and the same color as the background, so it is difficult to visualize without some kind of staining. However, when light passes through a material that is different from the background, there is a phase shift and this can be used to visualize the material. This is called phase contrast microscopy.
