What is an example of a stoichiometry of reactions between ions in solutions practice problem?
1 Answer
Many example can be given for for stoichiometry reaction between
ions in solution
- Reaction of strong acid with strong base. for example take 10 mL of 0.1 M HCl,
#H_2SO_4# ,#HNO_3# titrate with 0.1 M sodium hydroxide. Calculate the volume of sodium hydroxide for neutralisation of acid with base.
HCl + NaOH = NaCl+
One mole HCl = one mole NaOH
one mole #HNO_3 = one mole
One mole
For equation 1 & 2 10 mL of sodium hydroxide will be consumed, whereas for eq 3 20 mL of sodium hydroxide is consumed
- Precipitation reaction
100 mL of 0.1 M
Eq 4 One mole Ca = one mole Calcium oxalate
Eq 4 One mole Ca = one mole of Oxalic acid
Eq 5 One mole Zr = One mole Zr oxalate
Eq 5 One mole Zr = 2 mole oxalic acid
Therefore for Ca precipitation requires 100 mL, whereas for Zr it requires 200 mL
like this many example can be given for stoichiometry reactions
