4 Valves. They regulate blood flow.
Explanation:
The valves prevent back flow of blood into the atrium or ventricle that it is being pumped out of.
The Tricuspid valve is on right side of the heart and regulates blood flow between the right atrium and right ventricle.
The Pulmonary valve regulates blood flow from the right ventricle to the pulmonary trunk which takes blood to the lungs to dump carbon dioxide and pick up oxygen.
The Mitral valve is on the left side of the heart and regulates blood flow between the left atrium and left ventricle.
The Aortic valve regulates blood flow from the left ventricle to the aortic arch which delivers oxygen rich blood to the rest of the body.
