Why is aerobic respiration important to us?
1 Answer
It produces more ATP
Explanation:
Our cells metabolize sugars and nutrients to provide themselves with energy. In the mitochondria, cells undergo cellular respiration where the glucose that we consume from foods, its broken down by many cycles (glycolysis, Krebs cycle, etc.).
During these processes, our cells can either undergo aerobic or anaerobic respiration. When available, the body prefers aerobic respiration because it allows the mitochondria to produce more ATP for the cell than if it didn't have oxygen present or was in an oxygen-deprived state
