A complete subject is the simple subject,the main word or words in a subject, along with any of the modifiers that describe the subject.
To identify the (complete) subject, ask yourself who or what completed the action in the sentence.
When defining a complete subject, remember to include both the simple subject plus all of the words that modify it.
Examples:
1. The school orchestra is performing tonight.
Who is performing tonight? The school orchestra is performing tonight. The school orchestra is the complete subject.
2.My friend, Sarah, is a great singer.
Who is a great singer? My friend, Sarah, is a great singer. My friend, Sarah, is the complete subject.
