A subordinate clause that is embedded within a sentence which is separated from the main clause with brackets or commas.
Explanation:
Where additional information or detail is given to develop the main clause (idea) in a sentence but which is not grammatically integral to the rest of the sentence is embedded within the main clause. It must be separated from the main clause by either placing it in brackets or using two commas instead where the brackets would be.
