Eukaryotic cells are cells that have a nucleus. Eu= True Karyon=Nucleus
Explanation:
Cells with a true nucleus, or a nucleus enclosed in a membrane, are called eukaryotic cells. This is in contrast to prokaryotic cells that do not have a membrane-bound nucleus.
Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells compared:
We can add more by saying that eukaryote cells have a well-defined nucleus and membrane bound organelles, such as the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi complex, that are specific in their functions. Eukaryotic cells are larger than prokaryotic cells and are usually multicellular. DNA is wrapped around histones and eukaryotic cells undergo mitosis and meiosis, whereas prokaryotic cells do not.
Plants and animals are examples of eukaryotes.
