In Cholera toxin, the A subunit acts on adenylate cyclase+G-protein unit located on the membrane . This causes more AMP to be converted to cAMP (cyclic AMP). This cause dramatic efflux of ions and water from infected enterocytes, leading to watery diarrhoea.
