Generally, two intersecting lines form two pairs of congruent angles (they are called vertical).
If lines are perpendicular to each other, all four angles are congruent, they are all right angles.

Vertical angles are two angles /_AA and two angles /_BB on this figure. They are congruent for any two intersecting lines.

If lines are perpendicular, all angles /_AA and /_BB are right angles and all are congruent to each other, as seen on this figure:
