Innate immunity refers to the immunity which we get by birth itself, it's importance can be explained as follows :-

It is non specefic , means it will oppose every pathogen not a paticular type.

Colostrum ( first mother milk ) has IgA antibodies in it , which protect the new born baby.

Innate immunity attempts to block pathogen replication before disease onset
