Helicobactir pylori causes chronic gastritis and in very small number of infected people may cause ulcer.
Explanation:
Inflammation of stomach lining, its irritation and damage could be caused by H.p. which can stay alive in acidic environment of lumen of stomach. The bacteria is flagellated and flagella helps the organism to anchor itself on mucus. Bacteria may enter epithelial cells of lining and produce toxic chemicals to lower pH.
