$x = \frac{6}{17}$ $x = 6/17$

In order to get rid of the $x$ $x$ 's in the denominators you have to multiply them over to the other side:

$(3(color(blue)(x+2)))/color(red)cancel(color(black)(4x)) = (5(color(blue)(4x)))/color(red)cancel(color(black)(x+2))$

Multiply it out:

$3x+6 = 20x$

Subtract the $3x$ to the other side and add the $20x$ and $3x$ :

$color(red)cancel(color(black)(3x))+6 = 20x - color(blue)(3x)$

$6 = 17x$

Then divide $6$ by $17$ :

$x = 6/17$
