It's a ballad and an elegy with a verse and refrain feel to it. This is because of the line, "she simply decides, life isn't fair".
Explanation:
Ballad is a poem which tells a story, much like yours. An elegy is lamenting someone, something, or a serious reflection. Your poem is about a mother lamenting her son, which hints to being murdered or dying viciously. This fits both categories.
