Explanation:
When rain water enters into cracks and fractures inside the rock , it freezes due to regional lower temperature. When it freezes , it turns into ice and ice being a solid cover my volume . This sequence of melting and freezing of water expands crack and fracture and ultimately lead to rock breakage . We call it frost wedging .
