4040

Explanation:

What we know:

4040 laps equals half her workout.

What we would like to know:

How many more laps she has to swim, we will call this xx.
She has done 4040 laps out of xx amount this can be written as a fraction 40/x40x. We are told that this is only half her workout, to find out the remaining laps we set up a proportion.

40/x=1/240x=12

Cross multiply:

x=80x=80

Now that we know the total amount of laps we can subtract this from the amount she has already completed.

80-40=408040=40

She has 4040 more laps to complete her workout.

She still has another 4040 laps of the pool to do.

Explanation:

50%50% is the same as 1/212

If she has completed 50%50% of her workout (1/2)(12), then there is the same amount still left to do, (The other 50%50%)

This means she still has another 4040 laps of the pool to do.
