Its very easy you should know that 80% elements are metals so there is only 20% non metals and they have a special designated place,the all lie in the p block ,in most of the periodic table you will find a dark/black/coloured line seperating non metals and the metalloids ,in this you can easily see that the light blue,white and barkblue that is group no 18,17,3-elements of 16,2 of 15 1 of 14 and 1 of group 1 are nonmetals. hydrogen can be treated as an exception as it is the only element that lies on right side others on the left side.
