$8x^2 - 24x - 5 = 0$

$3/(4x) - 1/(8x) = x - 3$

Multiply through with their LCM

$cancel(8x)^2(3/(cancel(4x))) - cancel(8x)(1/(cancel(8x))) = 8x(x - 3)$

$2(3) - 1 = 8x^2 - 24x$

$6 - 1 = 8x^2 - 24x$

$5 = 8x^2 - 24x$

$8x^2 - 24x - 5 = 0 -> "Quadratic Equation"$
