By subtracting $5$ from both sides we find:

$|3x+4|=-3$

An absolute value can never be equal to a negative number. Therefore, there is no solution.

Yes

Since $2=abs(3x+5)+5$
implies $-3 = abs(3x=5)$

...but $abs("anything") >=0$ (by definition of absolute value)
