Explanation:
Plants like to be in very fresh water, water that is hypotonic to the plant. This allows the plant to take in a lot of water and stand up straight. This state is called turgidity.
However, if a plant is in salt, its environment will be hypertonic to the plant. It will lose water, because water flows from hypotonic to hypertonic. This will cause the plant to wilt and the plant cells to plasmolyse and die.
