Which variable are you solving for?

Solving for $z$ :

$(2z)/2 =(4xy)/2$

$z = 2xy$ .

Solving for $x$ :

$(2z)/(4y) = (4xy)/(4y)$

$z/(2y) = x$ , or

$x = z/(2y)$ .

Solving for $y$ :

$(2z)/(4x) = (4xy)/(4x)$

$z/(2x) = y$ , or

$y = z/(2x)$ .
