One major difference is that the heart cells work involuntary.

2nd difference: While , the skeletal muscles are cylindrical in shape, the shape of cardiac muscle is semi-spindle.
3rd difference: Unlike skeletal muscles, gap junctions are found in cardiac muscles. The skeletal muscles are closely bound together when compared to the cardiac muscle.
4th difference: Cardiac muscles are very short when compared to skeletal muscles.
5th difference: While the skeletal muscles are multi-nucleated (they have many nuclei) , the cardiac muscles have only one or two nuclei.
