The two different type of cell division are meiosis and mitosis.
In meiosis, the cell divides to form two haploid (containing half the DNA) cells, whereas in mitosis, the cell divides to form two genetically identical 'daughter' cells that are diploid (containing all the DNA).

For healing of wounds, the new cells are required to be diploid, hence the type of cell division that takes place is mitosis.
