Question #9b48e
1 Answer
It doesn't spin on the equator, or around it etc. The equator is an imaginary line on the Earth which is the closest part of the Earth to the Sun, that is almost perpendicular to it.
Explanation:
The Earth first of all spins on its axis, every celestial body spins on its axis, and some do it in strange ways also for example, Uranus spins on its side.
However, an axis, and an equator, doesn't really exist, it is just a zone in which we Humans have given a name in which something happens on the planet, axis is the point it spins on, equator closest point on the Earth to the Sun, Topic of Cancer and Capricorn is also just another zone where you can have the sun directly over head.
On the axis, the Earth is tilted, and continues to tilt back and forth every 6 months or so, which is what creates the seasons, with it being the opposite season in each hemisphere, it also effects the amount of sunlight certain parts of the Earth is exposed to, for example, for almost 3 months, during summer in the N.Hemisphere, the Arctic is exposed to sunlight continuously, and in the S.Hemisphere (when it is winter because opposite) in the Antarctic, it is in darkness for 3 months.
All in all, the Earth spins on its axis, not the equator.
Hope this helps
