The lung capacity is the air in air passage, and in the alveoli.
Explanation:
In healthy adult male the insipiratory volume is 3 liters. Tidal volume is 500 ml, Expiratory reserve volume is 1.1 liters, and residual volume is 1.2 liters. The female the volumes are less comparatively.
The rate of breathing increases the total air movement in and out of the lungs. This is the reason when we do exercise the rate of respiration increases.
Yoga, breathing exercise , and swimming, running and jogging increases the lung capacity.
The people living at high altitude have larger lungs and more lung capacity.
The limit of lung expansion cannot be increased. But the rate of respiration per minute can be increased
