The rule states that if HX adds across the double bond of an Alkene the H atom of Hx adds to the Catom with most H atoms attached to it.
Explanation:
This works with unsymmetrical Alkenes e.g. propene. Two possible products are chloropropane or 2-chloropropane. The latter is the major product due to the electrophilic addition mechanism. Reaction goes via a secondary carbocation which is more stable than the primary carbocation needed to form the chloropropane.
