A Yankees Jersey usually costs $95. This week it is 40% off the original price. How much money would a shopper save from buying the sweatshirt this week?

$38.00 is the 40% saving.

The price would be $95-$38 = $57

Explanation:

x/95 = 40/100

95 xx 40 = 3800

100x = 3800

x =3800 ÷ 100 = 38

You need to cross multiply 95 and 40 which is 3800.

Then you need to multiply 100 xx x to get 100x

Now you find out how many times 100 will go into 3800, which is 38 times ( 3800 ÷ 100 = 38)

x, or how much a shopper would save if they were to buy the sweatshirt during this week, would be $38.00.

If you need to know this too, the new price of the sweatshirt is $57.00.

I found this by subtracting 38 " from "95

( 95.00 - 38.00 =57.00 )

Sorry for a poor explanation, I hope I helped though, Good day!

The saving is $38

Explanation:

We are simply wanting to find 40% " of "95 as this will be the amount of discount:

40% xx 95

=40/100 xx 95/1

=cancel40^2/cancel100^(cancel20) xx cancel95^19/1

=$38

the shirt will be $38 cheaper this week
