(5x+y)+(4x+2y)=5x+y+4x+2y

=(5x+4x)+(y+2y)

=9x+3y

Explanation:

So I have first removed the brackets, since all the signs are positive, so there will be no change in any signs.

Then we add the x coefficients 5xand4x,

which give us answer 9x.

Similarly, we add y-coefficients yand2y,
