Actually the theory is that pangea was formed by the collision and joining of all the continents and then broke up.
Explanation:
If different continents combined there would be an interchange of genetic material. There would be cross breeding and hybridization between closely related organisms. This would result in improved species. Also similar fossils would be found on all the continents after the super continent ( Pangea) broke up.
Some organisms that had thrived in isolation on separate continents would go extinct not being able to compete with newly encounter species. The climate changes would also result in extinctions as some organisms would not be able to adapt to the new environment.
The collision of the continents would result int the formation of mountain ranges in the middle of the continents due to the impact and buckling of the continental crusts. The geology of all the continents would be affected.
