$x=3/2$

= $2x^2-x-3=0$

By sum and product

= $2x^2-3x+2x-3=0$

= $x(2x-3)+1(2x-3)=0$

= $(x+1)(2x-3)=0$

Now either $x=-1$ or $x=3/2$

The $x=-1$ doesn't satisfy the equation whereas $x=3/2$ does.

= $2(3/2)^2-(3/2)$

= $(9-3)/2$

= $3=3$ Hence proved
