Curiosity, simply put, is the innate human desire/instinct to explore and find out more about whatever is around us.
Curiosity has given us humans the drive to discover the natural world since the dawn of humanity.
Much scientific observation of the human brain has revealed that the brain grows at a much faster rate and uncommon connections are created when infants are allowed to do as their curiosity drives them to.
Lastly, on the level of civilisations, curiosity is what made Marco Polo wonder what mystical China was when all other Europeans thought it was a backward country with nothing of significance. What he discovered has revolutionised the development of European civilisation and allowed humanity to flourish.
Thus, curiosity is the key to human development.
