Satire is to use sarcasm, irony and the like to denounce or expose something or someone.
Explanation:
Satire can often be confused with parody since they have very similar connotations. The difference between the two is that satire is meant to improve upon humanity or whatever thing the satirical piece is portraying whilst parody is usually just for entertainment.
The act of using derogatory language to prove a point about something or someone. It can also be used expose something that is mainstream at the time. This can clearly be seen in, for example, the modern art movement which can be seen as a satire of the art that came before it.
