Being sad is just a simple feeling brought on by an event, or relationship that brings out feelings of empathy, sympathy, and despair. Depression is a mental disorder in which you are consistently manifested with symptoms of sadness, loss of interest, significant weight gain or loss, too much or too little sleep, anxiety, crying spells, and withdrawn, flat-affect in social situations that are typically stimulating or pleasurable.
