Explanation:

When we scale the argument, like in f(2x) or f(x/2), that stretches or compresses in the x direction, which isn't happening here.

When we scale like 1/2 f(x) or 2 f(x) that compresses or stretches in the y direction. That seems like what's going on.

The function is unchanged when f(x)=0 (around x=-8 and x=0) which is consistent with y scaling.

The height at the apex at x=4 went from 3 to 3/2 indicative of a y scale factor of 1/2. That looks right in general.

So it appears g(x) = 1/2 f(x) , choice b.
