Why are nebulae important?

They are essentially the birthplace of brand new stars.

Explanation:

Nebula are enormous clouds of mostly hydrogen and helium. The gas slowly begins to collect and the gravity attracts more and more gas. Once enough mass has been reached, fusion begins and a brand new star is born.

Planetary nebulae will often orbit the new star and the leftover gas and dust will likely for planets. Just like the way our solar system was born.

This nebula is known as the "Pillars of Creation".
Incredible in size and potential to create many brand new stars.
