A front forms between two air masses, especially with different temperatures.

Explanation:

The weather that comes with a front is driven by that temperature difference. Warmer air generally contains more moisture, in the form of water vapor, than colder air. So water vapor from the warm air gets into the cold air -- which cannot hold as much of this vapor. So the moisture condenses making clouds and rain.
