Why not multiply it out?

r = ((1 + 7theta)/(7theta)) (7 - theta)

= (1/(7theta) + 1) (7 - theta)

Now FOIL (first, outer, inner, last):

= 1/(cancel7theta) cdotcancel7 - 1/(7canceltheta)cdotcanceltheta + 1cdot7 - 1cdottheta

= 7 - 1/7 - theta + 1/theta

= 49/7 - 1/7 - theta + 1/theta

= color(blue)(48/7 + 1/theta - theta)
