The next multiple is $6(x+1)$
The biggest multiple is $6(x+2)$

The sum of these multiples is $72$

$6x +6(x+1)+6(x+2) =72$

$6x+6x+6+6x+12 =72$

$18x +18 = 72$

$18x = 72-18 = 54$

$x=3$
