Multiply the two numbers together and add the powers

E.g. #(3.5xx10^4)(1.2xx10^5)#

#3.5xx1.2=4.2#

#10^4xx10^5=10^(4+5)=10^9#

Putting these two together

#4.2xx10^9# then you need to check it is in scientific notation
