UO_3 reacts with H^+ ions to produce UO_2^(2+) ions and water. Write the balanced equation for this reaction?

please give info on how you did it thanks

UO_3(s) + 2 H^+(aq) -> UO_2^(2+)(aq) + H_2O(l)

Explanation:

Placing all the terms given into an equation:

UO_3 + H^+ -> UO_2^(2+) + H_2O

As you can see, the equation is not balanced yet:

  • Left hand side has 1 H while right hand side has 2 H
  • total charge on the left is +1, while on the right it's +2

To fix this, let's place a 2 in front of H^+.

UO_3 + 2 H^+ -> UO_2^(2+) + H_2O

That balanced the number of H on both sides, as well as the total charge (+2).

Putting in the physical states:
UO_3(s) + 2 H^+(aq) -> UO_2^(2+)(aq) + H_2O(l)
