-5(1-5x)+5(-8x-2)=-4x-8x the answer i got was x=5 , is it right ? How can i plug it back into the equation to show its right? if its wrong please tell me where i went wrong.

Proof

$- 5 + 25 x - 40 x - 10 = - 4 x - 8 x$ $-5 + 25x - 40x -10 = -4x -8x$

After getting rid of parenthesis

$- 15 = - 12 x - 25 x + 40 x$ $-15 = -12x -25x +40x$

$- 15 = 40 x - 37 x$ $-15 = 40x - 37 x$

$- 15 = 3 x$ $-15 = 3x$

$- \frac{15}{3} = - 5 = x$ $-15/3 = -5 = x$

Your answer is $x = - 5$ $x=-5$
