Friction and other factors will always prevent this

Explanation:

To be 100% efficient, all input energy would need to be converted in to useful output energy. In any real engine, there will always be friction (since there will always be moving parts) so the engine can never be 100% efficient as energy will be used to overcome the friction (work will be done). Other energy losses may also occur (e.g. Heat loss in a combustion energy etc).
