Precipitation of calcium carbonate

Explanation:

Ca(NO3)2(aq)+Na2CO3(aq)2NaNO3(aq)+CaCO3(s)

Or, since the nitrate and sodium ions are along for the ride, we could write a net ionic equation:

Ca2++CO23CaCO3(s)

Calcium carbonate is very poorly soluble in water; I think, from memory, to the tune of 15mgL1.

In acidified water, would you expect calcium carbonate to have greater solubility?
