And ammonia and hydroiodic acid is a simple acid base reaction:

NH_3(g) + HI(g) rarr NH_4^+I^(-)(s)NH3(g)+HI(g)NH+4I(s)

Of course, this would also work in aqueous solution, however, you would not see a product precipitating.
