Why would we want to start viewing into a microscope under low power first, and then switch to high power?

You can see a larger area under low power than under high power, so it is easier to find the specimen under low power. Switching from low power to high power zooms in on the center of the field of view so in order not to lose the specimen, it should be centered before switching to high power.
