Lithium oxide will of course hydrolyze in water to give stoichiometric lithium hydroxide:

$L i_{2} O (s) + H_{2} O (l) \to 2 L i O H (a q)$ $Li_2O(s) + H_2O(l) rarr 2LiOH(aq)$
