Explanation:
If you were living in a natural environment, there is likely to be limited (if any) damage. You may fall over, or become scared if you didn’t understand what was happening, but it is impressive rather than lethal.
If you are in, or near, buildings you have a significant problem. Things fall (e.g. roof tiles) which can injure or kill and buildings collapse leading to enormous loss of life. Buildings are very strong vertically, but it takes relatively little sway or shear to make them collapse.
