Given a line cutting off an intercept of -2 from the y-axis, the line passes through (0,-2).
When a line is equally inclined with the axes, the line makes equal angle with both the x and y axes.
=> the inclination angle =45^@
=> slope of the lines (m) will be either 1 or -1
As shown in the figure, Line A has a slope of 1 and Line B has a slope of -1.
Given that y-intercept =-2
=> equation of Line A in slope-intercept form :
y=mx+b
where m is the slope and b the y-intercept
=> y=x-2

Equation of Line B :
y=mx+b
=> y=-x-2

Hence equations of the lines are :
y=x-2 and y=-x-2
